Social design is a human-centered approach to design that tackles social issues and promotes positive change. It goes beyond aesthetics, focusing on creating solutions that are not only functional and engaging, but also contribute to the well-being of communities and address systemic inequalities. My approach to social design is deeply rooted in my understanding of Argentine culture, and the unique perspective gained from growing up in a developing nation within a globalized world. While globalization has touched every corner of our world, I maintain a deep connection to my national culture and traditions and am constantly reminded of the distinct challenges and opportunities that exist for those of us living in a third-world country. This unique lens shapes my creative process, fostering empathy and awareness within my designs.

My work in social design is informed by a number of key principles:

  • Community Engagement: I believe that the most effective designs arise from a deep understanding of the community's needs and aspirations. I actively seek to involve community members in every stage of the design process, ensuring that the solutions created are relevant, impactful, and sustainable.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: I always keep in mind the rich tapestry of Argentine culture when crafting my designs. This involves being aware of local values, traditions, and socio-economic conditions and adapting my ideas to fit seamlessly within the cultural context.

  • Resourcefulness and Sustainability: Social design often requires working with limited resources. I’m skilled at finding creative ways to utilize available materials and technology to create solutions that are both effective and environmentally sustainable.

  • Systems Thinking: I take into consideration the wider social, economic, and environmental systems in which my design solutions will be implemented. My aim is to create projects that foster positive change not just at an individual level, but at a systemic level too.

I have applied these principles in several design projects, combining my unique cultural understanding with innovative strategies to solve social problems. These projects demonstrate my ability to use design as a powerful tool for enacting real and lasting positive change within communities.
